The room was overflowing in January at the 2025 IBC Men’s Conference in Lenk, Switzerland at the Speaking the Bible study series session. Over fifty guys were listening intently as Tom Griffin described the process of preparing for and delivering a recitation of Scripture. It began with Tom reciting Ephesians 4:11-16.

The room quieting down as the recitation continued. The presentation then followed the pattern of the Speaking the Bible study series. Clicker pens snapped to a new color on a regular basis as men took notes. The questions that followed the seminar reflected a desire for a deeper understanding of how a recitation ministry could be implemented in a church and what pitfalls to avoid. Christian conferences like this are an effective and efficient means to spread the idea of Scripture recitation in Christian worship.
For skiers and lodge-dwellers alike, the IBC Men’s Conference is an opportunity for men to connect and learn. They learn in their own faith walk as well as in their relationships to others. And they are encouraged by each other. The male animal is a unique beast–not just barbecue and fixing things–and the chance to speak plainly with one another is a relief. Men tend to have their guards up and the conference allows them some time to relax in a safe environment.

We would like to attend more Christian conferences like the IBC Men’s Conference. If you know of any worthy conferences that would welcome the By Heart mission, please use the comments on this post to tell us about them. Our goal is not just to attend, but to be able to present the By Heart method embodied in the Speaking the Bible study series.
